VALENE JOSLIN
Cedar Rapids
On July 1, 2017, Valene Joslin's name was called by her Savior to enter eternity with her husband, son and family in heaven. She passed from Earth in the loving care of those who cared for her at Hiawatha Care Center, Hiawatha. Funeral service: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Per Valene's wishes, the casket will be closed at all times. The family will receive friends one-half hour before the service at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Doug Joslin of Marshalltown, Linda (Steve) Ritz of Walnut Creek, Calif., Bonnie (Larry) Schuller of Cedar Rapids and Theresa "Teri" (Larry) Graw of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and one on the way.
Valene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Verne; a son, Dennis Joslin; a daughter-in-law, Margy Joslin; three sisters, Valerie, May and Vida; and one brother, Hillis.
Valene was born March 21, 1924, in Mechanicsville, Iowa, and was the daughter of Frank and Lula (Thede) Krumroy. She graduated from Mechanicsville High School and moved to Cedar Rapids. After working two years at Rockwell, she served her country for two years in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On Aug. 16, 1947, she was united in marriage to Verne Joslin in Cedar Rapids. Along with being a full-time housewife, Valene worked 14 years at May's Drug Store.
In 1974, Valene prayed and received Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. Her joy was learning God's word which involved her husband, Verne, and herself attending Bible studies and enjoying that fellowship.
She always looked forward to family gatherings on holidays and birthdays and attending the grandchildren's activities. She loved her family.
We would like to extend a very special thank-you to Summit Point Assisted Living for providing a home- away-from-home for our mom.
