Vail, Gary L.
Gary L. Vail, 58, of 7304 Hampshire Dr. NE, died unexpectedly at his home on Monday, Oct. 19, 2009. Services: 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Inurnment with military rites in the Jefferson Barracks Cemetery in St. Louis, Mo. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Per the families' wishes, the casket will be closed at all times.
Survivors include his wife, Tracy; three daughters, Katie of Cedar Rapids, and Lisa and Pamela, both at home; his mother, Myrtle Boain of Jacksonville, Fla.; two brothers, Mike (Lori) of Minneapolis, Minn., and Ronnie (Mary) of St. Louis; and one sister, Debbie (Randy) Justice of Jacksonville, Fla.
He was preceded in death by an infant twin brother, Larry; and his father.
Gary was born on Dec. 7, 1950, in St. Louis, the son of Carl and Myrtle Hessler Vail. He married Tracy Massey on Oct. 8, 1976, in St. Louis. Gary was a manager of logistics engineers at Rockwell-Collins for 20 years. He was a member of the Society of Logistical Engineers and proudly served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and enjoyed spending time with his many friends and beloved family.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Gary's name.
