Ursula Hackbarth, 68, of Robins, Iowa, passed away on Sept. 1, 2021, peacefully at her home, surrounded by love, after a courageous battle with cancer. A private family burial will take place, with a Celebration of Life to follow at a later date. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service is assisting the family.
Ursula was born on May 15, 1953, in Heilbronn, Germany, the daughter of Karl & Lieselotte (Geissel) Graf. She was raised in Germany where she met the love of her life, Gary Hackbarth. The couple were united in marriage on Oct. 22, 1971, and made their home in Robins, Iowa. Ursula became a citizen of the United States on Oct. 24, 1989. She worked for Rockwell Collins for 32 years before retiring in 2018.
Ursula enjoyed spending time with family and her many friends. She was very involved with her grandchildren and loved attending their sporting events. Her hobbies included gardening, bird watching, shopping for her grandchildren, and carrying on her German traditions.
Ursula is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Gary Hackbarth of Robins, Iowa; daughter, Sheila (Tony) Roe of Swisher, Iowa; sons, Eric Hackbarth of Davenport, Iowa, and Glen (Amanda) Hackbarth of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; five grandchildren, Hannah and Anika Roe and Jaslyn Stephen, Ella and Bryson Hackbarth; brothers, Karlheinz (Eva) Graf and Martin (Lavinia) Graf, all of Germany; father-in-law, Harold Hackbarth of Dubuque, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Ursula was preceded in death by her parents, Karl and Lieselotte Graf; mother-in-law, Geraldine Hackbarth; brother-in-law, Ron Hackbarth; and nephew, Brian Cosby.
