Helen M. Unzeitig, 86, an 85 year resident of Cedar Rapids, died on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, at Epiphany Assisted Living, Coon Rapids, Minn. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Pius X Catholic Church by the Rev. Donald Kline. Burial: St. John's Cemetery. A vigil service will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday at Teahen Funeral Home, where friends may visit with the family between 4 and 7 p.m. There will be a reviewal in the gathering space at St. Pius Church Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Helen is survived by her son, Robert of Iowa City; and daughter, Marilynn (Steven) Pape of Andover, Minn.; two grandchildren, Jeremy (Jill) Pape and Katherine (Chris) Shreve, both of Minneapolis, Minn.; four great-grandchildren, James, Jessica, John and Dean; and one sister-in-law, Carole (Vincent) Ryan of Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; and four brothers, Lumir, George, Leonard and infant brother Robert Skvor.

Helen Marie was born on March 5, 1927, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of George and Mary (Besta) Skvor. She married Howard Unzeitig on May 13, 1948, at St. Ludmila Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids.

Helen devoted her life to the love and care of her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and they were a constant source of happiness and fulfillment for her, right up to her last days.
