Tyrrell, Clarine E.
Clarine E. Tyrrell, 82, of Manchester, died Friday, Sept. 18, 2009, at her home.
Clarine E. Wall was born July 5, 1927, in Marfa, Texas, the daughter of Floyd and Alice (Vollmer) Wall. Clarine graduated with B.S. and R.N. degrees from the University of Iowa and had worked in her earlier years at St. Luke's Hospital, Duluth, Minn., University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and Delaware County Memorial Hospital. She was active in her community, where she was a member of the United Methodist Church, board member of Good Neighbor Home, past president and circle chairman for United Methodist Women, Hospital Auxiliary and Iowa Medical Society Auxiliary. Clarine enjoyed reading, baking, volunteering and traveling but was most committed to her family, friends and church.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Dr. John Tyrrell; children, Clark Tyrrell (Sue) of Manchester, Greg Tyrrell (Jenny) of Winter Garden, Fla., Gary Tyrrell of Iowa City, Mike Tyrrell of Manchester and Sara Riehl (Tom) of Johnston; grandchildren, Adam (Brittany), Jessica, Andrew, Elizabeth, Abigail, Joanna, David, Daniel, Samuel and Joshua; three great-grandchildren, Faith, Reece and William; and sisters, Celeste Opfell (James) of Mayfield Heights, Ohio and Lorene Wetzel of San Jose, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Kathleen Joan Tyrrell; and brother-in-law, Vincent Wetzel.
A visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church, Manchester, with a Celebration of Life at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Roger Henry officiating. Inurnment will be in Oakland Cemetery, Manchester.
Memorials may be given in her name to the United Methodist Women of United Methodist Church, Manchester.
