Tom grew up in Iowa City, graduating from City High School in 1974. He had additional schooling in the Automotive Mechanics program at Kirkwood College. This formed the basis for his life's work. Tom was a “people” person which enabled him to have so many friends.
Tom's family includes his children, Michael and Kathryn, who reside with their mother, Joyce Francois. Tom dearly loved his children and the time they were able to spend with each other in church activities, sports, eating out and going places. Other family members include his father, Don; siblings and their families, Jim (Teresa) Tvedte and their children, Laura, Matt and Tim; Tracy Tvedte and his children, Ann Lawler (her children Avery and Aaron), Benjamin Tvedte (Missy) and their son Jackson, and Alex Tvedte, also a son of Tracy's; Bill (Martha) Tvedte and their children, Colton and Trevor; Connie (Monty) Herrick and their daughter, Jessica; and Bev (Tom) Dawson, all of the Iowa City area. Tom was preceded in death by his mother, Deloris, in June 2010.
Our family wishes to thank St. Mark's Church and Gay and Ciha Funeral Home and all of our friends, Tom's friends and family members who have helped and supported us throughout this time.
