Tucker, Maxine R.
Maxine R. Tucker, 89, of The Woodlands at The Meth-Wick Community, died there Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011, after an extended illness. Services: 3 p.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, where friends may call after 2 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Lucille King will officiate. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Walter; a son, Terry (Cheryl) of Aurora, Colo.; a granddaughter, Kelly (Dan) DeKalb of Powell, Ohio; a grandson, Justin Tucker of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Wilma Kepler and Mary Evelyn Hodge; and two brothers, Walter and Leonard Hodge.
Maxine was born in Cedar Rapids on April 5, 1921, the daughter of William and Frances (Kroupa) Hodge. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1939. She married Walter C. Tucker on Feb. 21, 1942, in Kahoka, Mo.
Maxine was a long time member of Christ Church Presbyterian and the Sunshine Circle there. She had a great joy being with her family and sewing for her grandchildren. Maxine was a den mother for the Cub Scouts for years which was very important to her.
During World War II she was employed by a defense plant in Cedar Rapids making ammunitions for the troops.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
