Tucker, Carl M.
Carl M. Tucker, 68, of Hopkinton, died suddenly Monday, Dec. 27, 2010. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, at Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello, where a parish Scripture service will be held at 8 p. m. Friends may continue to call at St. Luke Catholic Church in Hopkinton after 9:30 a.m. Friday. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, with the Rev. John Kremer officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Tipton at 2:30 p.m.
Carl was born July 13, 1942, in Cascade, Iowa, the son of Oliver J. and Frances (Althoff) Tucker. He married Francine A. Schumann on July 17, 1962, at St. Luke Catholic Church in Hopkinton. He worked for Wilson's Foods Meat Packing Plant in Cedar Rapids for 22 years and drove a semi-truck until retirement.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, golfing, visiting with anyone who would lend an ear and tinkering with small engine equipment.
He was a loving husband, father and grandpa. Carl was always helping friends and neighbors. Also, teasing!
Surviving are his wife, Francine; three children, Jeanette (Jerry) Badertscher of Conover, N.C., Jannan Kennedy of Wellington, Ohio and Chuck Tucker of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Adam (Ashley) Kennedy, Kelly Kennedy, Amanda Kennedy, Zachary Badertscher and Jessica Badertscher; six siblings, Robert Tucker of Epworth, Mary Jane Hoffman of Epworth, Ruth (Jack) Riedl and Edna Mae Tucker, both of Dubuque, Allie (Colletta) Tucker of Worthington and Carlyn (Clyde) Thielen of Peosta; seven Schumann brothers- and-sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law; a brother-in-law, Sylvester “Ves” Hoffman; and four Schumann brothers- and-sisters-in-law.
