Truly D. Waskow, 99, a nearly lifelong resident of Cedar Rapids, passed from this life to be face to face with her Lord on April 5, 2018, at Frene Valley Care Center in Hermann, Mo.
Truly was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Aug. 5, 1918, the only child of Henry A. Kloubec and Ella D. Bartovsky Kloubec. On July 2, 1939, she married William E. Melsha at First United Brethren Church in Cedar Rapids. He preceded her in death on Nov. 10, 1970.
In 1975, she married Lawrence E. Waskow at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He preceded her in death in March 2000.
In 2010, she became a resident of Ridgeview Assisted Living in Cedar Rapids, becoming a resident of Hermann, Mo., only in 2016. Truly worked at Iowa Adjustment and Credit Bureau most her adult life, retiring in her 70s. She was a member of the old St. Andrews Evangelical United Brethren Church and a
50-year member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Cedar Rapids.
Truly is survived by her two sons, Donald and wife Carolyn of Hermann, Mo., and James and wife Roberta of Keizer, Ore.; her six grandchildren, Jeffrey Melsha, Laura Pottebaum, Amy Jung, Jeremy Melsha, all of the Hermann/St. Louis area, and Jennifer Berry and Tonia Brechtal of Salem, Ore.; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, where funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Daniel Wiersma officiating.
Memorials may be given to Camp Courageous.
