Treu Jr., Dr. Joseph S.
Dr. Joseph S. Treu Jr., 89, a resident of Evergreen Estates I, Cedar Rapids, died there Friday, Sept. 10, 2010. Memorial services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Pastor Bob Voels.
Survivors include his children, Ann Carrizales of Albuquerque, N.M., James Treu of Palo, and Joseph B. Treu; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and his dear friend, Joyce Vail of Cedar Rapids.
Joseph was preceded in death by his wife, Alfia; parents; and brother, William Treu.
Born May 20, 1921, in New York City, N.Y., Joseph was the son of Joseph and Catherine (Sprunkel) Treu Sr. He held a doctorate in college administration, working as the Dean of Students at Peirce College until his retirement. Joseph served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Alfia Giampalo in New Jersey.
Joseph's joys were music and dogs and spending time outside in the sunshine.
A memorial fund has been established in Joseph's memory.
