Tressa May Slaubaugh was born February 15, 1940, near North English, IA. She was a twin daughter of Raymond and Dorothy (Snare) Cobb. She attended school in Kinross and later graduated from North English High School. Later on she attended Kirkwood Community College and graduated with her degree in nursing. She worked as a nurse for many years at various care centers and also worked at Oral B for a while. Tressa was a member of the Wellman Baptist Church and was currently attending the Harvest Baptist Church in Williamsburg. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, watching Westerns and old movies. Tressa died on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at the English Valley Care Center in North English at the age of 85 years.
She is survived by her significant other James Newman of Williamsburg; two children Becky (Mike) Allen of Wellman and Bob (Patti) Slaubaugh of Kalona; four grandchildren Tara Fleming, Tanner Allen, Danny Slaubaugh and Dwight Slaubaugh; seven great-grandchildren; her stepmother Donna Cobb of Kinross; James’s children Andrea (Dan) Sirls of Denver, CO, Adriene (Dwane) Gragg of Williamsburg and Ann Rufflo of Gathersburg, MD; siblings Golda (Josh) Bringman of Kinross, John (Susan) Cobb of Cooper, TX, Ruth Trier of Kinross and Kathy (Steve) Stoner of Kinross; a brother-in-law Marvin Middlekauff; and a sister-in-law Mary Cobb of Kaslet, TX. She was preceded by her parents; a twin sister Treva Middlekauff; a brother Milo Cobb; a sister-in-law Diane Cobb; and a brother-in-law Richard Trier.
A celebration of life gathering will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. A general memorial fund has been established. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
