Tremmel, Marie
Marie Tremmel, 85, of Sigourney, died Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at the Manor House in Sigourney following a brief battle with cancer.
Marie was born on June 16, 1925, near Martinsburg, to Ray and Gladys (Martin) Chacey. They lived on a farm near Martinsburg. She attended Martinsburg schools for 11 years and graduated from Sigourney High School in 1943. After graduation she went to work in the Keokuk County Sheriff's Office for E. Tremmel for three years. In April of 1946, she married John J. Tremmel.
She is survived by her son, David and wife Nancy of Sigourney; three grandchildren, Shannon Marie (Chris) Webb of rural Sigourney, Regina (Matt) Snakenberg of Flower Mound, Texas and Zachary (Tiffany) Tremmel of Victor; eight great-grandchildren, Zebulen, Zeke and Zoe Webb, Drew, Ellie Marie and Jack Snakenberg, Adalynn Marie and Jordan Tremmel; and a brother, Rex (Jennie) Chacey of Ollie.
Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sigourney. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Sigourney. Visitation will be at the Powell Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Sigourney, today from 1 to 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m.
A general memorial fund has been established.
