Trecek, Beatrice
Beatrice Trecek of Cedar Rapids went to be with her Lord on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, at age 100. She passed away at Higley Mansion.
Beatrice was born Feb. 8, 1911, in Brandlin, Czechoslovakia, to Joseph and Frances (Soukup) Trecek. The family came to the United States in 1911 with their four boys and 6-month-old Beatrice. They settled in Blue River, Wis., where they farmed and had six more children. Her father died in a house fire on the farm and her youngest brother Edward was born two months after her father's death. The family later moved to Cedar Rapids so they could attend a church where the pastor preached in the Czech language.
Beatrice worked for many different families as a homemaker and helped family members whenever she was needed. One of her biggest contributions to the lives of her siblings was to pay educational expenses when they went to college.
She was very devoted to family and to Jesus Christ. She was a member of New Covenant Bible Church in Cedar Rapids.
Beautiful flower gardens all around her yard was one of her biggest enjoyments. She spent time alone with the Lord every day reading and praying and was always ready to share her Christian faith with others.
She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, brother Edward, and sister-in-law Barbara, who all loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by eight brothers and a sister.
Memorial donations may be sent to Peoria Rescue Ministries, PO Box 837, Peoria, IL 61652-0837.
