Trcka, Phyllis Ann
Phyllis Ann Trcka, 77, of Cedar Rapids, died suddenly at her home Saturday morning, Oct. 29, 2011. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church by Father Christopher Podhajsky. Burial: St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Papich-Kuba Janeba Chapel West, 1604 J St. SW, where a rosary begins at 5 p.m.
Phyllis is survived by her husband of 57 years, Thomas; six children, Barbara (John) Staub and Deborah Hutchins, both of Cedar Rapids, Thomas Jr. (Elizabeth) Trcka of Swisher, Margaret (Allen) Moore of Tiffin, Mark (Lori Johnson) Trcka and Julie (David) Newcomb, both of Cedar Rapids; 10 grandchildren, Andy (Joan), Stacy (Cody), Jeffery, Kristina, Allison, Zachery, Tara, Justin, Jeremy and Elizabeth; five great-grandchildren, Tyler, Isaac, Ashlynn, Peyton and Olivia; a great-great-granddaughter, Ember; two brothers, Frank (Judy) Spinler of Cedar Rapids, and Michael (Judy) Spinler of Plano, Ill.; also a special friends, Mrs. Mae McGuire of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Milo and Helen (McCormick) Spinler; and a son-in-law, Rick Hutchins.
Phyllis was born Oct. 2, 1934, in Cedar Rapids and was a lifelong resident. As a youth, she was a member of the Moose Girls' Drum and Bugle Corps. She married Thomas F. Trcka on June 3, 1954, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Phyllis had worked at Castle Lanes, Lancer Lanes and May City Bowl.
Phyllis was a charter member of St. Jude's Catholic Church and attended St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church the past several years. She enjoyed bowling and was a past member of the WIBC. Phyllis liked to work crossword and jigsaw puzzles and she was a Chicago Cubs fan. More than any of these things, Phyllis loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending their many activities through the years.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.
