Trcka, Frank Marvin
Frank Marvin Trcka, 78, of Ames, died Oct. 18, 2010, at Mary Greeley Medical Center, Ames. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Ames, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct 23, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Frank was born June 13, 1932, in Cedar Rapids, to Frank Joseph and Sylvia (Wavrin) Trcka. He graduated from McKinley High School in Cedar Rapids, attended Iowa State University, and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Frank married Evon Frette in 1955, and moved to Ames in 1957. They were married for 55 years and raised four children. Frank worked at Bourns Inc. as a manufacturing engineer most of his career after which he worked as a manager at Composite Technology, a consultant for Pella Plastics and a plant manager for GM Manufacturing. After retirement, he enjoyed delivering vehicles for Accurate Auto Trim.
Frank was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, ISU Century Club, the American Legion, Indian Guides and The Society of Manufacturing Engineers, in which he became an international director. He was a hunter, a fisherman, a bowler, an avid ISU sports fan and enjoyed ushering at ISU football games for 53 years. Frank loved and enjoyed his family and rarely missed one of their activities, usually watching through the lens of a video camera. He was a role model, care giver, mentor, fixer of all things and was loved and respected by his family, friends and co-workers.
He is survived by his wife, Evon; son, Frank E. (Marleah) of Washington, Iowa; three daughters, Sue (Tim) Taege, Kathy (Randy) Auel of Ames, and Patty (Daryl) Taylor of Hudson; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer (Tyler) Thomsen, Rachel, Luke and Breanna Taege, Michele (James) Morgan, Sara (JD) TeBockhorst, Ashley (Nick) Chardoulias, Cory Taylor and Daniel and Nicole Auel; and three great-grandchildren, Hayden TeBockhorst and Jamie and Jacob Morgan.
He is also survived by one brother, Richard (Doris Anne) of Dallas, Texas.
Memorials may be given to Riverside Bible Camp and other benevolences as decided by his family.
