Travis, Marjorie F. 'Marge'
Marjorie F. “Marge” Travis, 91, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, with the Rev. Philip Thompson officiating. Inurnment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, where a vigil service will begin at 4 p.m.
Survivors include her husband, Bill; son, John (Lorraine) Travis, grandson, Steven Travis, granddaughter, Leah Travis (Easton Ayers), and great-granddaughter, Evaiah Elizabeth Ayers, all of Cedar Rapids; sisters-in-law, Renee Reilly, Margie O'Connell and Mary (Ken) Goodell, all of Cedar Rapids; along with several loving and caring nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, James (Clarrita) Lillis, Lee (Clare) Lillis, Bill (Catherine) Lillis and Joe (Pauline) Lillis; sister, Laurine (Roland) Naughton; and brothers-in-law, Cyril Reilly and Mike O'Connell.
Frances Marjorie Lillis was born Jan. 17, 1921, in Williamsburg, Iowa, the daughter of James and Marguerite (McCann) Lillis.
She worked as a lunch room manager at St. Pius Catholic School, and later at Rockwell Collins for many years. On June 7, 1947, she married Oren William (Bill) Travis at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
