Trachta, Elmer
lmer Trachta, 85, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, at Crestview Acres in Marion. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Burial will follow in Czech National Cemetery. Visitation will be an hour before services at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids.
Elmer was born March 6, 1928, in Swisher, the son of Charles and Tillie (Sedlacek) Trachta. On April 11, 1950, he was united in marriage to Delores Divoky in Cedar Rapids.
Elmer was a member of Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Local 125 for 39 years. He started the trade with Simanek Plumbing and Heating and also worked for Bob Murray Plumbing and Heating and A'Hearn Plumbing and Heating, where he retired in 1990.
Elmer loved fishing, going to the casino, and spending time with family, especially the grandchildren.
Elmer is survived by his wife of 63 years, Delores; his children, Marv (Julie) Trachta of Cedar Rapids, Diane (Lowen) Anderson of Cedar Falls and Randy Trachta of Iowa City; five grandchildren, Blake, Jenna and Ben Trachta, Kira (Nathan) Werstein and Carly (Jordan) Bahnsen; one great-granddaughter, Emersyn Werstein; one brother, Donald (Lorene) Trachta of Cedar Rapids; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Leonard, Clarence and Lester Trachta; and one sister, Margaret Blessing.
