Townsend, Joseph E.
Joe Townsend, 56, of Cedar Rapids, passed away at his home.
Joe was born March 11, 1955, in Monticello, Iowa, the son of Mary (Finn) and Henry Townsend. Joe attended school in Monticello and Cedar Rapids, graduating from Jefferson High School in 1974.
Joe is survived by his siblings, Karen (Jerry) Kiburz of Scotch Grove, Gary (Coleen) Townsend of Mechanicsville, and Laura (Doug) Edler of Gladbrook. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Joe was a professional painter, taking great pride in his work. He also loved to collect vintage Japanese art, gardening and spending time with his family. He will be missed by his many close friends.
A memorial service will be held at the VFW Post 788, 3240 Southgate Place SW, Cedar Rapids, IA on Saturday, August 6, from noon to 3 p.m.
A memorial fund has been established.
