Townsend, Dorcie 'Dean'
sister, Verna (Virgil) Roemerman of Centerville.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, William and Catherine Townsend; and brothers, Keith and Donald Townsend.
Dorcie Dean Townsend was born Dec. 2, 1918, in Shelly, Minn., the son of William and Catherine (Updike) Townsend. He married Evelyn Fay Townsend on Feb. 19, 1949, in Fayetteville, Ark. Dean was a United States Navy veteran of World War II, serving four years in the South Pacific on the USS Mustin Destroyer. Dean worked as an electronic test technician at Rockwell Collins for 20 years and later retired from Norand of Cedar Rapids.
He loved his farm and enjoyed working in his yard, driving, camping, woodworking, reading, evening TV, and most dear to Dean was his family and grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Dean's name to Hospice of Mercy.
