Torrey, Marlene J.
Marlene J. Torrey, 77, of 2425 Tamarac Dr., Marion, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2010, in her home following an extended illness. Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion.
Survivors include her husband, Tom of Marion; three daughters, Roxanne (Greg) Stasch of Marshalltown, Vickie (Allen) Stainbrook of Vinton and Tracy (Mike) Dvorak of Cedar Rapids; a son, Terry Torrey of Davenport; eight grandchildren, Matt (Carrie) Stasch, David Stasch, Shaya Stasch, Debbie (Kirk) Beason, Heather Harvey, Jeremy Landuyt, Charity (Justin) Christian and Carisa Johnson; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, and a brother.
Marlene was born July 16, 1932, the daughter of Walter and Lucile (Jakubec) Harvey, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She married Thomas Torrey on Feb. 25, 1956, in Iowa City. Marlene worked at Rockwell Collins for 37 years. Marlene was honored at the YWCA Third Tribute to Women & Industry in 1984. She was chosen to serve as a role model for other women and to represent her company as they are acknowledged for providing women opportunities for advancement. After retirement, they moved to Panama City Beach, Fla., where they lived for 11 years, returning to Iowa in 2004 to be closer to family. She enjoyed life to the fullest with all her friends and family.
Marlene will be greatly missed.
