Ruth was born March 27, 1944, the daughter of Ellsworth and Ruth (Jones) Knight in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She lived all of her life in Cedar Rapids with a brief time in Germany, while Jerry served in the war. She graduated from Prairie High School and met her husband, Jerry while working together at an Eagle's store. Ruth worked for The Gazette for over 20 years, until health problems forced her retirement in 2010.
Ruth was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who always put her family first. She loved collecting Dalmatian figurines, watching John Wayne movies and especially spending time with her Shih Tzu dogs, Tanner, Princess and Dottie. Ruth will be missed for her stubborn exterior with a heart of gold.
