Topinka, Larry J.
Larry J. Topinka, 66, of Cedar Rapids, died at his home Tuesday, March 19, 2013. Services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 Second St. SE, where friends may call after 1:30 p.m. Burial will be at a later date at Czech National Cemetery.
Larry is survived by his daughters, Sherri (Robb) Keeney, Shelly (Brett) Medema and Becky Davidson, all of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren, Karlie and Kaleigh Keeney, Riley and Cade Medema, and Joe Topinka, Tori and Kyle Goodall; former wife, Julie (Ray) Boynton, Center Point; two brothers, Steve Topinka, San Francisco, Calif., and Mike (Elena) Wesp, San Diego, Calif.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester Topinka and Marjorie (Johnson) Topinka Ellis; and a sister, Carolyn (Al) Wurzer.
Larry was born May 20, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, and was a lifelong resident. He was a 1964 graduate of Jefferson High School. Larry married Julie Warner on Nov. 1, 1964, in Cedar Rapids and they were later divorced. Larry was a loyal Cargill employee for over 40 years, retiring in February 2011.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and was very supportive of their many activities.
A memorial fund has been established in Larry's name.
