Toomey, PatrickJoseph

Patrick Joseph Toomey, 58, of Iowa City, died Thursday, May 9, 2013, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, at St. Joseph Cemetery in Iowa City, where military honors will be provided.

Patrick was born Nov. 29, 1954, in Iowa City, the son of Attorney J. Newman Toomey and Beatrice (Hart) Toomey. Following graduation from West High School in 1973, he enlisted in the Army during the Vietnam War. He loved music, rock hunting and mountain climbing.

His family includes his siblings, Colleen and Bill Nash of Cedar Rapids, Teresa and Gene Fischer of Iowa City, Tim and Ruth Toomey of Iowa City and Kevin Toomey of Des Moines; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Terence Toomey.
