Tonja Lynn Verdeck, 58, of Belle Plaine, Iowa, passed away March 13, 2022, at her home.
Tonja was born Aug. 14, 1963, in Marengo, Iowa, to
Dee and Linda (Schlagel) Courtney. Tonja grew up in Belle Plaine. Through a school program she began working for Town & Country Wholesale. Upon graduating from Belle Plaine High School, class of 1981, Tonja continued her career with Town & Country. Where she served as office manager for 41 years.
Tonja showed her compassion for people through her skill of crocheting by donating hats and scarves to the school and ambulance crew, and making prayer shawls for hospitals, nursing homes and the Hall-Perrine Cancer Center.
She is survived by her mother, Linda Clemons of Belle Plaine; sister, Teri (Andy) Hartz of Blairstown; brother, Josh (Patricia) Clemons of Orange County, Calif.; nieces and nephews, Trevor Hartz, Tyler Hartz, Alexis O'Neill and Madison Clemons; stepsiblings, Ray, Chris and Gene; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Tonja was preceded in death by her father.
Memorial service is 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 18, at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service in Belle Plaine, with Vicar Nick Palmer officiating. Private family burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine.
Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 17, at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.neuhausfuneralservice.com.
