Tompkins, Maxine J.
Maxine J. Tompkins, 88, of Marshalltown, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Dec. 21, 2011, at Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown following an extended illness. Services will be held at a later date. Arrangements through Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include son, Jesse L. Tompkins Jr. of Vinton; daughters, Kathryn (Richard) White of Cedar Rapids and Marcia (Jeannette) Walker of El Paso, Texas; eight grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Maxine J. Tompkins was born Dec. 21, 1923, the beloved daughter of Joseph and Stella (Smith) Kara in Cedar Rapids. Maxine married Jesse L. Tompkins on May 31, 1941, in Cedar Rapids. Maxine was employed at Collins for many years.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made in Maxine's honor to Iowa Veterans Home, 1301 Summit, Marshalltown, IA 50158.
