Tompkins, Barbara A.
Barbara A. Tompkins, 58, of 4038 Hummingbird Lane, Hiawatha, died Friday, July 24, 2009, in St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Glenn Becker. Visitation: 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home before the service. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her daughter, Bobbie Jo and Scott Enos of Quasqueton; grandchildren, Joseph James Mutchler of Cedar Rapids and Allisha Enos and Richard Enos at home; brothers, Larry (Robin) Kovarik of Cedar Rapids, Jim Kovarik of Florida and David (Becky) McVay of Cedar Rapids; sisters, Nancy (Joe) Perry of Cedar Rapids, Sherry Witte of Lisbon, Peggy Stangland of North English and Judy Lovelett of Iowa City; sister-in-law, Carol Kovarik of Center Point; and her husband's cousin, Delbert Boots, who lived with and helped care for her.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; brother, Leon Kovarik; and brother, Dennis McVay.
Born March 1, 1951, in Cedar Rapids, Barbara was the daughter of J.D. and Berniece (Sterns) McVay and was a longtime resident of Linn County. Barbara married Richard Tompkins on Oct. 17, 1981, in Cedar Rapids. He died June 24, 1997. Barbara was a member of the Church of Christ in Marion.
A memorial fund has been established in Barbara's memory.
