Tom William Silver, 68,
of Marion, passed away on Dec. 3, 2018, in Minnesota. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids.
Tom was born Sept. 4, 1950, to John and Betty Silver. Tom and his wife of 35 years, Julie, had four children together, Joshua (Jodi), Jenna (Jeremiah), Jonathan and Jill; and his beloved dogs, Mora and Kavik. Tom also had two older boys, Mike and Alex (Dawn).
Tom started his own trucking company, spending many amazing years on the road with Julie. Later, Tom stayed local, bringing along his kids on the route. Eventually, the trucking bug got his son, Jonathan, and he joined him in running the business. Tom was known in the trucking community as having the classiest of rigs, thanks to his son Joshua, who helped deck them out. After going back over the road, Tom relied on his girls, Jenna and Jill to be his navigation.
Tom was preceded in death by his father, John Silver; and his beloved dog, Finners (pictured).
He is survived by his wife, six children and grandchildren.
Tom had one of the kindest souls and touched the lives of many with his humor and passion for the things he loved. He was a bright and wonderful light in this world and will be missed by many.
