Tom Caufield, 52, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 12, 2018, at home surrounded by family and friends following a long battle with lymphoma cancer.
To celebrate Tom's life, family and friends are welcome to a gathering on Tuesday, April 17, from 5 to 7 p.m. at The Kirkwood Room, 515 Kirkwood Ave., Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice.
Tom was born July 3, 1965, in Nuremberg, West Germany, the son of Thomas Patrick and Dorrit (Cornell) Caufield.
Tom was raised in Vilonia, Ark. He graduated from Enola High School and received his bachelor's degree from the University of Central Arkansas. He moved to Iowa City in August 1994.
Tom was passionate about life, books, cinema, music, food, wine and friends. He was employed at New Pioneer Food Co-Op, where he oversaw the wine department for 20 years.
He was a member of the Vilonia United Methodist Church.
Tom is survived by his mother, Dorrit; and his sister, Ami (Kevin) Bartley, both of Vilonia, Ark.; his niece, Katherine (Colten) McSpadden of Batesville, Ark., and nephew, Neal (Tori) Bartley of Rose Bud, Ark.; his aunts, Audry Huenefeldt of Raytown, Mo., and Betty Sue Goth of Montrose, Mo.; and numerous cousins and friends.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to Tom's friends and the doctors, nurses, and staff at UIHC and Iowa City Hospice for their compassionate care.
He was preceded in death by his father.
