Todd Michael Mather, 61, of Cedar Rapids, died on Monday, January 5, 2026, at St. Luke’s Hospital following a short battle with cancer.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 12, 2026, at Teahen Funeral Home. Todd’s family request that clothing be casual for the visitation and service. Burial will take place at Palo Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Monday beginning at 12:00 p.m. prior to the service.
Todd is survived by his two sons, Donnie and Ryan Mather; granddaughter, Vivian Taylor; mother, Sherry Mather; siblings, Shane Mather (Sonya Robertson), Wendy (Scott) Cummings, Matt Mather (Stacy Roland), and Dana (Jamie) Franck; significant other, Alice Gerber; favorite aunt, Ellen (Frank) Hicks; and nine nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son Luke Mather, father Donald Mather, and infant sister Shelly Mather.
Todd was born on January 16, 1964, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Donald and Sherry (Smith) Mather. He graduated from Kennedy High School in 1982 and proudly served in the United States Navy. Todd married Michelle Phelps on August 22, 1992, in Palo. From that union they had three children, later divorcing.
Todd worked as a welder and retired from D&N Fence. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, playing Pepper, listening to music, and socializing with friends and family. Known for his quick wit and love of good food, Todd was an amazing cook and cherished time spent with those he loved.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to Todd’s family to be used for his favorite charity.
