Todd was born Dec. 23, 1976, in Waterloo, the son of Mark and Kerry Mikoda Kucera. He was a 1995 graduate of North Tama High School and received his bachelor of science degree in exercise science (athletic training) from the University of Iowa. He was a paramedic specialist. Todd later received his nursing degree (R.N.) and his bachelor of science in nursing (B.S.N.) from Mount Mercy University.
Todd married the love of his life, Molly Berkenpas, on Oct. 6, 2001, in Downey.
Todd was employed at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in SICU, OR, the cardiology clinic and ASC.
Todd enjoyed being outside. Triathlon and obstacle course racing were his primary hobbies and training regimens. He enjoyed camping with his family. They planned a large trip each summer to experience a different part of the United States. During the rest of the camping season, the family could be found more locally in Iowa campgrounds. Todd enjoyed bicycling, trail running and craft beer. He was a faithful Iowa Hawkeye fan from his days in college as a cheerleader, but his passion was Hawkeye wrestling and football.
Most important to Todd were his wife and daughters.
The family extends their appreciation to the staff and physicians at UIHC, Mercy and Iowa City Hospicde and Iowa City ASC for the loving care and compassion provided to Todd and his family.
Todd is survived by his wife, Molly, and their daughters, Emily and Ella; his parents, Mark and Kerry of Toledo, Iowa; his brother, JD (Kristin), and their children, Reed and Paige, of Dike, Iowa; his grandfather, Dale Mikoda of Elberon, Iowa; his in-laws, Bob (Pam) Berkenpas of Port Charlotte, Fla., and brother-in-law, Andy (Anne) of West Branch; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.
