Tobin, Anna Mae
WORTHINGTON - Anna Mae Tobin, 78, of Worthington, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010, peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, There will be a parish Scripture service at 5:30 p.m. Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Church in Worthington, with Father Robert Gross presiding. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery.
Anna Mae Tobin was born June 28, 1932, near Luxemburg, Iowa, the daughter of Herman and Marie Lueken. She was united in marriage to Alfred Tobin Jr. on Oct. 26, 1953, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Luxemburg. Anna Mae worked at the Ertl Co. from May 26, 1969, until her retirement on Feb. 28, 1995, and then came back as an administrative assistant on March 13, 2000. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Euchrettes Card Club, Worthington Senior Citizens and the Dyersville Card Club.
In her free time she loved to spend time with her family, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed going to the boat, playing bingo, and playing cards. Anna Mae and Alfred enjoyed being snowbirds, spending their winters in Arizona. While raising their children they spent time fishing and camping as much as possible.
Surviving are her five daughters and one son, Jayne (Thomas) Reiter of Worthington, Janet Tobin of Lanark, Ill., Judy (Gary) Smock of Worthington, Joan (Marv) Meier of Cedar Rapids, Jeff (Joyce) Tobin of Worthington and Jill (Robert) Jones of Cedar Rapids; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five brothers and two sisters, Arnold (Bernice) Lueken of Colesburg, Paul (Luella) Lueken of Garber, Robert (Elaine) Lueken of Dyersville, Donald (Mikki) Lueken of Sherrill, Wilfred “Willie” (Joann) Lueken of Durango, Rita Engelken of Greeley and Mildred (Al) Lombard of Iowa City; and sisters-in-law, Gladys Jaeger, Del Rose Ostwinkle and Darlene (Carey) Ahlers, all of Worthington, Shirley Rave of Farley and Margie Althoff of Manchester.
Anna Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred, in 2005; grandson, Brian Reiter in 1977; and her parents.
Anna Mae was a wonderful and caring mother and will remain in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
