Tjaden, Eldon I.
Eldon I. Tjaden, 91, of Monticello, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Monticello, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Monticello. The Rev. Darryl Larson will officiate.
Eldon was born May 9, 1921, in Monticello, Iowa, the son of Edward and Mary (Greenwood) Tjaden. He married Edith Willimack in 1939 at Zion Lutheran Church in Wyoming, Iowa. He attended Coyne Electrical College near Chicago and returned to the Onslow area and began doing electrical work with his brother for many of the area farmers. He and Edith farmed near Onslow.
He is survived by his son, Paul E. Tjaden of Janesville, Wis.; a daughter, Linda Jo Tjaden of Rochester Hills, Mich.; three granddaughters, Jessica Lynn Tjaden of Milwaukee, Wis., Kathryn Jo Tjaden of Minneapolis and Laura Jean Tjaden of Whitewater, Wis.; two sisters, Frances (Paul) Andre of Shakopee, Minn., and JoAnn (Glen) Smith of Ames, Iowa; and two sisters-in-law, Agnes Tjaden of Monticello and Betty Tjaden of Wyoming, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen (Ray) Driscoll; and three brothers, Edward, Dale, LaVern Tjaden.
