Tjaden, Arlene M.
Arlene M. Tjaden, 67, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Anamosa. Pastor Bill Nielsen will officiate at the service. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa. Interment will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Surviving are her children, Vernon Dean (Amy) of Anamosa, Steve (Lindsey) of Nebraska, Joshua of Martelle, Barbara (Anthony) Queto of Anamosa and Karen (Chad) Janko of Martelle; 11 grandchildren, Casie, Justin, Matthew, Ryan, Kayla, Cody, Carter, Andrew, Trey, Trystan and Austin; two sisters, Edith Taylor of Independence and Blanch Fuller of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Richard Fleming of Lisbon; her mother-in-law, Hulda Tjaden of Guttenberg; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon; four brothers, Bobby, Bud, Jim and Pat Fleming; and three sisters, Doris Thompson, Genevive Brown and Ellen Jordan.
Arlene was born July 11, 1945, in Coggon, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Ada Taylor Fleming. Arlene was a 1963 graduate of Central City High School. On July 10, 1965, Arlene and Vernon Tjaden were united in marriage in Central City. Arlene started work for Rockwell Collins, later she stayed at home to tend to her children, later she went to work at the Wildlife Bar and Grill in Martelle, later she went to work for the Hallmark Care Center in Mount Vernon as a CNA for 22 years.
Arlene was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Anamosa for more than 30 years.
Arlene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be missed dearly by those closest to her.
