Tisher, Howard F.
Howard F. Tisher, 87, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, April 25, 2011, at the Winslow House in Marion. Services: 10 a.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, 1221 First Ave. SW, where visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. David Grandon will officiate.
Survivors include his children, Dixie (Dave) McLaud, John (Karla) Tisher and RoxAnn Tisher; stepdaughter, Mary Ann (David) Hughes, all of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Isla Evers of Aurora, Ill.; grandchildren, David Hughes Jr., Angela Montialius, Michael Hughes, all of Cedar Rapids, Amy McLaud-Clemons of Marion, Jennifer Tisher, Kyle Tisher, both of Cedar Rapids, and Aaron Baker of Springville; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Austin, Andrew, Chloe, Jagger and Jonah; and his nieces and nephews, William MacAllister and Shari, Jon, Linda and Steven Singlestad.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Hazel; his sisters, Grace Singlestad and Jean Brown; and his brothers, John and Kenneth Tisher.
Howard was born Nov. 21, 1923, in Cedar Rapids, to Charles and Pearl Tisher. He married Hazel L. Miller there on July 10, 1948. She died in 1987. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Howard was employed by Furley Trucking for many years and enjoyed seeing and traveling through the different states. He enjoyed the Hawkeyes, Chicago Bears and NASCAR. His favorite was spending time with family and watching his friends play Euchre.
