Timothy (Tim) L. Hendrickson, 59, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday May 22, 2016, at St. Luke's Hospital after a hard-fought 17-month battle with cancer.
Tim was born Oct. 20, 1956, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Frank and Norma Hendrickson. He graduated from Kennedy High School in 1974. He married Sandra Sorensen in 1983 in Denver, Colo. Tim was employed by Olinger Investment Corporation at the time of his death. He previously worked many years at his own mail contract business in Denver, Colo.
Survivors include his mother, Norma Hendrickson of Cedar Rapids; sister, Heidi (Michael) Probasco of Camdenton, Mo.; brothers, Nick and Tony Silkebakken of California; and goddaughter, Stephanie Nelson of Cedar Rapids. Tim treasured his lifelong friendships with Scott Francik and the Jim Bender family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank, in February 2016; and his wife, Sandy.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, May 26, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral service will be immediately following the visitation at the funeral home with Pastor Michael Erickson officiating.
Special thanks to the inpatient hospice unit at St. Luke's for the loving care and support given to Tim and his family.
Memorial donations may be made out to the family who will disburse them at a later date.
