Timothy Jay Perez, 52, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Saturday afternoon, March 13, 2021, at UnityPoint Health-Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 Second St. SE, Cedar Rapids. Tim is survived by his father, Frank Perez, Cedar Rapids; siblings, Mary Jensen, Marion, Paulette (Jim) Wood, Debbie (Dale) Soukup and David (Julie) Perez, all of Cedar Rapids, John Perez, Vernal, Utah, Janet Perez, Cedar Rapids and Steve (Tina) Perez, Watkins. Also surviving is his best friend, Scott Hill of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lenora; his sister-in-law, Jodene Perez; and his brother-in-law, Melvin Jensen. His sister, Vicki Perez, died one day after Tim, on March 14.
Tim was born Jan. 1, 1969, in Cedar Rapids, and was a lifelong resident. In July, 2020, Tim received a kidney transplant, which gave him a completely new and different outlook on life. He was a quiet, introspective person with an incredibly generous heart. Tim enjoyed socializing with his friends at the tavern. Being the youngest of nine children, Tim was a treasure to his parents and their caregiver in later years. He was a wonderful son, brother and uncle.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the National Kidney Foundation.
