Online condolences may be sent for Tim's family through the Web at www.gayandciha.com.
Timothy Joseph Barnes was born Aug. 2, 1965, in Iowa, the son of Lawrence "Bud" Barnes and the late Barbara (Paulus) Barnes. He attended schools in Iowa City at Iowa City West High and the University of Iowa, where he was a lifetime member of Theta Xi fraternity. He married Rick Armstrong in Coralville on May 14, 2011, and they made their home in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada.
Second only to Tim's devotion to his family, was his passion for the theater. Tim was a founding member of the City Circle Acting Company of Coralville and he loved every aspect of it. He found great joy in participating at every level, from directing some of the earliest shows (Nunsense, Marvin's Room) to acting in others (The Boys Next Door, The Full Monty, Cabaret) to singing in benefits and concerts (Circle Full of Stars), to pulling the curtain up and down (Gypsy). Tim brought his wit, compassion, intelligence and creativity to every job. Everyone who worked with Tim loved him – his easy-going nature, his crack comic timing, his beautiful voice, his one-of-a-kind smile.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Tim's memory to the Timothy J. Barnes Memorial Fund City Circle of Coralville. Read more at http://citycircle.org/tim- barnes.
