Thompson, Shirley Joan
Shirley Joan Thompson, 73, of Cedar Rapids, died Oct. 28, 2013, at her home. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Family will greet friends from 9 a.m. until service time. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her sons, Randy Thompson of Cedar Rapids and Brain Thompson of Walcott; a daughter, Linda; eight grandchildren; and siblings, Jerry Smith of Cedar Rapids, Marcia (Bill) Conrad of Keystone and Nancy Smith of Hiawatha.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack; and one brother, Richard Smith.
Shirley was born Dec. 26, 1939, in Elkader, Iowa, daughter of Lloyd and Maxine (Midkiff) Smith. She married Jack Thompson; he died in 2004.
