Thompson, Sharon L.
Sharon L. Thompson, 75, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, at Higley Mansion after a long illness. Services at 1 p.m. Friday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan (John) Linsley of Lisbon; two sons, Timothy and Mark (Loraine), all of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Maxwell and Jamie Thompson and Justin and Joseph Mullin; and three great grandchildren, Trenton, Oliver and Winnie Mullin.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Sharon was born Sept. 22, 1937, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Otto and Lilly VanDyke Slapnicka. She married Donald N. Thompson on Dec. 8, 1956 in Cedar Rapids. Don passed away in 2012.
Sharon worked in the Cedar Rapids Community School Systems lunch program for many years. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary and enjoyed bowling, reading cook books, shopping, working crossword puzzle, fishing and especially time spent with family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
