Thompson, Harold L.

Harold L. Thompson, 92, of 516 17th St. SE, Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at Manor Care Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a short illness. Memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer of St. Paul's United Methodist Church will officiate. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

He is survived by his daughter, Susan Thompson of Cedar Rapids.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Esther N. Thompson.

Harold Thompson was born Feb. 17, 1921, in Coon Rapids, Iowa, the son of Warren and Yarda (Carrie) Lindy Thompson. He married Esther Austin on Sept. 15, 1944. Harold worked as a Swedish massage therapist for 50 years before retiring in 1996. He was a 50 year member of the Marion Lodge No. 6, Scottish Rite, Eastern Star (Malta Chapter #415) and Shrine.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
