Thompson, Donald E.
Donald E. Thompson, 76, of Iowa City, formerly of Tipton and Muscatine, died Sunday, Aug. 2, 2009.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. A reception will follow at the funeral home for all those in attendance at the services. Private family graveside services will be held later.
Memorial donations can be made in Don's memory to Juvenile Diabetes.

Donald Eugene Thompson was born Feb. 19, 1933, in Burlington, the son of Louis and Goldie (Seaberg) Thompson. He attended and graduated from schools in Burlington. On April 14, 1954, he married Beverly Jean Lenihan in Burlington. The couple made their home in Tipton for many years, where they owned and operated the Dairy Queen. Later they moved to Muscatine, where Don worked for Hy-Vee before his retirement. In retirement, the couple moved to Bella Vista, Ark., where they enjoyed many good years. There they were active members at the Highland United Methodist Church.
His family includes his wife, Beverly; children, Teresa (John) Harbaugh of Ellensburg, Wash., Scott (Debra) Thompson of Iowa City, Christina Seitz of Vinton and Constance (Kreg) Harper of Ollie; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Robert Thompson.
