Thomas James Woods, 57, of Randalia, passed away at his home on Thursday, June 9, 2016. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 16, at Geilenfeld Funeral Home in Oelwein. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 17, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein. Inurnment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established. Tommy was born Sept. 5, 1958, in Oelwein, the son of Thomas and Carolyn Woods. He grew up in Oelwein and graduated from Oelwein High School in 1977. He was married to Terri Neunsinger in December 1978. Together, they had two daughters, Courtney and Rachel. They were later divorced.
On June 1, 2002, he was united in marriage to Joyce Downs at West Union. Joyce passed away Sept. 15, 2015. Tommy was a farmer and took great pride in his craft. He also enjoyed fishing, riding his Harley, traveling with family and friends and spending time on the Mississippi River.
Tommy had a great passion to counsel and help anyone in need. Nobody was ever a stranger to Tommy. His greatest love in life was his family and friends, especially his daughters and his three grandsons. Tommy will be missed by all for his great generosity, love, loyalty and kindness.
Tommy is survived by his two daughters, Courtney Woods of Oelwein and Rachel Woods of Marion; three grandsons, Brady Fettkether, Drakesyn Woods and Christian Watermann; three sisters, Janna (Jack) Woods Hamilton of Houston, Texas, Jody Woods Thompson of Delray Beach, Fla., and Jill Woods Kelly of Oelwein; and his parents, Thomas and Carolyn Woods of Oelwein.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; a brother-in-law, Keith Thompson; his grandparents; and a number of other family and close friends.
