North Liberty
Thomas R. "Tom" Pettit, 64, of North Liberty, a lifetime area resident, died suddenly Sunday, July 29, 2018, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, where visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Thomas Robert Pettit was born Jan. 6, 1954, in Iowa City, the son of Edward R. and Josephine (Bahles) Pettit. Growing up in Iowa City, he attended schools there, graduating from West High School with the Class of 1972. He worked in the area all his life, mostly at the former Highlander Inn and also for many years at Cub Foods. Tom enjoyed much in his life fishing, cars, painting as an artist, anything Star Trek, watching TV and was known to enjoy eating. But two things that were most important to him were his family and his sobriety for over 25 years!
His family includes his wife, Jane; his siblings, Donald Pettit (Evelyn), Kenneth Pettit (Gina) and Jennie Pettit; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Emmett; and three brothers, Edward, Joseph and Clifford.
