Thomas (Tom) Hunt, 75, of Cedar Rapids, IA, died Wednesday April 3, 2024, at Hospice House surrounded by his family after a long battle with cancer. A celebration of life is planned for Tom on Sunday, July 21st at IBEW Local 405, 1211 Wiley Blvd SW from 12 to 3.
Tom was born February 27, 1949, in Lexington, NC to Ellis M Hunt and Shirley (Mills) Hunt. He joined the Navy at age 17 and later he switched to Army National Guard of Iowa and is a proud veteran having served our country for 27 years.
Tom is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda S Hunt, 3 children, Scott (Kelly) of Cedar Rapids, Mike (Laura) of Cedar Rapids and Michelle of Cedar Rapids, 9 grandchildren, Derek (Kenzie), Shalyn (Lucas), Sydney, Taylor, Dylan, Kaylin, Drake, Gavyn and Tytus and 5 great grandchildren, Lilly, Amelia, Colson, Tatum and Hudson and a sister Linnie Hunt, Fl, a brother-in-law Jerry (Pat), niece Debbie and nephew Jerry Jr, Fl.
Tom was a member of Local 405 where he worked as an electrician until his retirement.
If anyone would like to make a contribution in Tom’s name, he was very supportive of the DAV and he also loved his dogs and supported adoption so abandoned pets could find their new forever home.
