Thomas William Pollock, 61, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2016, after a long battle with COPD and pulmonary fibrosis.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Barbara and Wendell Pollock of Sac City, Iowa. He is survived by his brothers, Scott Pollock (Kathy) of Eagan, Minn., and Mike Pollock (Netta) of Omaha, Neb.; his nieces, Jordan and Emily Pollock and Katie Wallace; and nephews, Drew Pollock and Ben Vlieger.
Tom recently celebrated his 20-year anniversary working for the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Prior to that, he worked in residential property management and the clothing industry.
Tom loved people and could engage almost anyone in a friendly conversation. He was extremely loyal to his family and friends and felt great joy with their successes. Tom was a gifted chef and liked nothing more than to host or be hosted when a high-quality meal and engaging banter were involved. Tom's rescued cat Gabby will miss his endless love and attention.
A memorial celebration will be held at a future date.
Memorials in Tom's honor may be directed to the Humane Society, the American Lung Association or the University of Iowa Dance Marathon.
