Thomas, LeRoy J.
LeRoy J. Thomas, 63, of Hills, died Friday, March 4, 2011, peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 12, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Following the service, a reception will be held in the fellowship room at the funeral home. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his memory.

LeRoy John Thomas was born Oct. 10, 1947, in Iowa City, the son of John and Irene (Frauenholtz) Thomas. Following graduation from Mid Prairie High School, LeRoy began a long career with Eldon C. Stutsman Company of Hills. He primarily drove trucks for them, something that he never got tired of doing. In fact until his retirement due to health reasons, he had driven for the past 40y years usually with his two faithful companions at his side. He lived to drive!
His family includes his two children, Michelle Burris of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Lance Thomas of Hills; his grandson, Ryan Hartman; brother, Gary Thomas and his wife, “Mid” of Washington, Iowa; a nephew, Lyle Thomas also of Washington; and his former wife, Judy Thomas of Iowa City.
