Thomas L. Kreutner, 62, died Thursday, July 31, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital Hospice Unit in Cedar Rapids following a short illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 4, at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. Sixth St., Vinton, with Mike Ferguson officiating. Interment will be held at Parkers Grove Cemetery near Shellsburg. Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established.
Thomas was born May 18, 1952, in Cedar Rapids to Henry F. and Lillian L. (Tranberg) Kreutner and graduated from Shellsburg High School with the class of 1970.
On Feb. 2, 1990, he was united in marriage to Janelle Kibbie in Cedar Rapids.
Tom loved farming and farm life. He enjoyed John Deere tractors and loved working on his Hit and Miss engines. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Janelle of Shellsburg; his son, Dustin (Candi) Maynard of Shellsburg; his grandchildren, Lucas, Cash and Quincy, all of Shellsburg; his sister, Diane Brock of Broken Arrow, Okla.; and his niece, Jillian Cobb, and nephew, Justin Brock, both of Broken Arrow, Okla.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew, Jason Brock.
