THOMAS HERSOM

Thomas Hersom, 53, died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016, at St. Luke's Hospital from a long illness. A private family graveside service was Thursday. There will be a Celebration of Life from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at NALC Union Hall, 1115 Center Point Rd. NE. Friends are welcome.
Tom is survived by a brother, Terry; a sister, Linda; three nephews and five nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Evelyn Hersom; a brother, Bob; and a sister, Heidi.
Tom was born July 21, 1963, in Cedar Rapids. He graduated from Washington High in 1981. He attended both Kirkwood and the University of Iowa. He was a huge Cubs and Bears fan and a World War II historian. He was presently employed at Papa John's Pizza, west, where they were very compassionate while Thomas was having health issues and was on the transplant list. Thomas was able to be a donor himself.
Thomas had a lot of friends and a lot of stories. Come share his friends and his stories. Peace.
