Thomas, Florence L.

Florence L. Thomas, 89, a resident of Northbrook Manor Care Center in Cedar Rapids, formerly of Marion, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at the care center. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion.

Survivors include her daughter, Barb (Curt) Gill of Deer River, Minn.; her son, Kenneth (Wendy) Thomas of Georgiana, Ala.; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Robert “Bus” Wehrhan, Kenneth Trent and Everett Wehrhan.

Florence was born Jan. 27, 1923, in Traer, Iowa, the daughter of Ferdinand and Ruth (Mastain) Wehrhan. She was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during World War II in the Navy WAVES. Florence worked from many years as a travel agent for Star Clipper News and Travel in Traer. She moved to Marion in the mid-1980s and lived at Hilltop Manor. Florence was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Marion.
