THOMAS A. MCNAMARA

Thomas A. McNamara, Kingwood, Texas, formerly of Buchanan County, died on Aug. 10, 2021.
The son of Leonard J. and Beulah M. (Luloff) McNamara was born Dec. 15, 1935. Thomas grew up in southern Buchanan County attending Mitchell country school and graduating from Rowley High School in 1954. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1962. He married Mary E. Avis, of Troy Mills at All Saints Catholic Church in Rowley on Dec. 31, 1960. Thomas worked for 30-plus years in the farm equipment service industry retiring from Ford New Holland in 1991. He enjoyed skeet and trap shooting and was an avid wood worker who took up wood carving in 2001.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, of 60 years; his children, Dianne (Steve) Henry, Kingwood, Texas, and Charles (Lora) McNamara, Dunstable, Mass.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Alice (Dick) Franck of Quasqueton, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, at St John's Catholic Church, Independence, Iowa. Military rites and burial will be in St John's Cemetery. The Reiff Family Center is assisting the family with arrangements.
